“Seniors for Senior Tsunami Survivors” for displaced Japanese seniors

The impact of the recent tsunami that devastated coastal communities across Japan has been felt around the world. Elderly populations in these Japanese communities have been particularly hard hit – basic needs, medicine and clean medical supplies are in short supply and very high demand. Senior Helpers of Boston North, a leading local senior care company, is launching an effort to help these Japanese seniors in need through a new initiative – “Seniors for Senior Tsunami Survivors.” We have a collection set up, please see below.

“The stories coming out of Japan are heart breaking,” said Peter Ross, CEO of Senior Helpers. “There are thousands of elderly Japanese citizens who have lost everything, and we want to aid the efforts going on over there specifically aimed at helping these seniors. We are urging all of our business partners, clients and families to join this effort in response to this unprecedented tragedy.”

To get involved, simply go to our office and drop off a donation in Senior Helpers’ designated “Seniors for Senior Tsunami Survivors” drop box. All collected donations will go directly to the Salvation Army, which has agreed to earmark all of Senior Helpers’ contributions to directly support efforts aiding the Japanese elderly affected by the tsunami.

“This is a terrible situation, but even a small donation really can make a big difference in helping these seniors get back on their feet and on with their lives,” Peter Ross said.

Senior Helpers’ Seniors for Senior Tsunami Survivors donation drive will run from March 23rd to April 23rd. This is a great story about local seniors and senior care professionals uniting together to help their Japanese counterparts during a time of desperate need.
